Kohsuke Ohmatsu was born in 1980 in Wakayama (Japan) and received his Ph.D. (2008) from Kyoto University (Japan) under the direction of Professor Keiji Maruoka. He was granted a Fellowship of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS) for Japanese Junior Scientists (2005 – 2008). He was appointed as assistant professor at Nagoya University (Japan) in 2008 and promoted to designated lecturer (2013), and designated associate Professor (2015).He was awarded the Akasaki Prize (2013), the ITbM research award (2013), and Chemical Society of Japan Lecture Award for Young Chemists (2014).
