Previous day, we held our first “Uminohikai“. This event was introduce from Nagoya University and has been continued till now. Basically it is a 2 days and 1 night trip with some activities whereby children can also participate. So, I went to “Dole Land” Minakami, Gunma Prefecture for fruit hunting. Since everyone is not free on Marine day, we decided to have it on an alternative day (see itinerary by Assistant Prof. Kei Muto).

First event: Fruits picking.

I left the lab early at 9 am but was caught in a traffic until 11: 50 am. I was so worried because I feel we could not reach the fruits garden on time. Luckily, we were able to reach there on time and the first event was “plum picking”. The plum was so sweet and my son was behaving well.

BBQ, Gelato, Tofu

Fruit picking + gelato + BBQ of beef are just under 2000 yen. Dole Land was different from what I thought but I am satisfied. Next, we head to a roadside station called “Takumi no Sato“.

“Takumi no Sato” has too many craftsman and took a long time to reach there by walking (bitter smile). The tofu shop’s fried tofu (160 yen) was freshly fried and super delicious!

Then,  we went to Okudaira Onsen “Yushinkan” which is one of our main event. There was a school nearby called “Assassination Classroom”. I could not go because I did not watch the movie. Bathing and drinking juice for 450 yen was very cheap. And then, I took a nap after feeling satisfied from onsen. From there, I went to Kirryu city to eat “himokawa udon“. At first glance, the udon has high impact but I find it awkward to cut the the udon. It was a bit deflated but the curry udon was delicious.

Lastly, I returned safely to the University by Tohoku Expressway. This is an enjoyable and fun trip!
